Born in Los Angeles, Kim Anno is a painter, photographer, and video artist whose work has been collected by museums nationally and shown internationally. Her work was recently acquired by the Berkeley Art Museum, Crocker Museum, and the Stanford Hospital.
Recently she has had exhibitions and screenings at the Tarrant Gallery, Fort Worth, TX, 14th Annual Nemaf New Media Festival, Seoul, Korea, Goethe Institute, Johannesburg, Asian Art Museum, SF, Flux Projects, Atlanta, Context, Art Miami, Marcia Wood Gallery in Atlanta, Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco, Site Santa Fe Biennale:One Night Stand in New Mexico, the King’s Art Center, California (retrospective) the Varnosi Museum in Hungary, DC Dusseldorf International Expo (Germany), Pulse, Miami, and the Berkeley Art Museum, the Denison University Museum, Noel Art Museum, among others.
Anno also has published a new artists’ book with Poet, Anne Carson in 2014, The Albertine Work Out.
She has been a professor at the college since 1996. Her recent interests and expertise has been in the intersection of art and science, particularly in aesthetic issues surrounding climate change and water.
She is a recipient of the Wallace Alexander Gerbode Foundation Purchase award for San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Honolulu Academy of Art Museum, and the Eureka Foundation’s Fleishhaker Fellowship, and Open Circle Foundation fellowship, Berkeley Film Foundation Fellowship. Currently she is working with other artists collaboratively within an ensemble of video artists and composers called, Ice on the High; and a long term video work: Men and Women in Water Cities.
