Kate Nichols (MFA 2013) uses painting as a platform for material experimentation and innovation. She synthesizes nanoparticles to mimic structurally colored animals, grows artificial skin from micro-organisms, and makes her own paints following 15th-century recipes. https://mcam.mills.edu/events/
