Little Paper Planes is excited to announce the 2017 LPP+ Residency application is now open! The application is due December 31st.
The LPP + Residency offers a diverse group of makers – artists, curators, collectives, photographers, writers, performers, participatory/social practice, musicians, craftspeople. – the opportunity to cultivate ideas and work in our studio in San Francisco. Residents receive space to set up a workshop, studio, or office. Expanding on our commitment in helping artists, we felt it was important to offer free space to encourage our creative community to try out new projects or just have a place to work.
For the year of 2017, the residency will be at our permanent home in 1240 Minnesota located in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. Residencies will be offered from March-October 2017.
– Residents receive one free 150 sq ft of private studio space with extended common work space in a large warehouse with other artists
– Resources at the studio: wood shop, kiln, media and digital media lab with large format printers. There is also a ton of community space with tables to use. There is a large kitchen and outside space. Besides the studio there are also a ton of galleries across the street at 1275 Minnesota Street.
Each artist is asked to give a talk or event about their work and create a ceramic edition for LPP.
Little Paper Planes provides support to assist with screenings, readings, lectures and workshops during the course of the residency. Any public programming will take place at the LPP shop in the Mission District. Each residency culminates with a publication or print edition published by LPP as an extension of the residency. SFMOMA’s Library and Archives collect all publications.
