Linda Geary

Linda Geary’s recent shows in 2015 include New Work at Shasta College in Redding, Living in the Room of Realities Nouvelles at Sonce Alexander Gallery in Los Angeles, Inspired, curated by Elizabeth Leach in San Francisco and New Normal #1 in Oakland organized and curated by Guererro Gallery and Chris Duncan. Her painting Orange Violet was included in Color Shift, curated by Apsara DiQuinzio, and acquired by the Berkeley Museum for their permanent collection in 2014.  Her book project Studio Visit, a compilation of 100 studio visits and color with essay by Norma Cole, was highlighted in the BAM exhibition.  Other recent projects include Co-Organizer of Painting Expanded, an all-day painting symposium at CCA in 2013.  Plumb Notebooks design collaboration with Tucker Nichols and McFadden & Thorpe design in 2014, All The Pink Together: Boom, solo exhibition at Steven Wolf Fine Arts in San Francisco, with curatorial project, Hotbox Forever, featuring Lecia Dole-Recio, Jeff Gibson, Mary Weatherford, and Wendy White, andTrapped in the Wunderkammer, at the Kadist Art Foundation 2014.  Other solo shows include in 2012 Color Space/ Sense at 2nd Floor Projects (w/ Danielle Lawrence and Scott Hewicker) in San Francisco, 101 California in San Francisco (2011); Inside Out at Rena Bransten Gallery (2010), accompanied by essay and catalog by Leigh Markopoulos. Solo exhibition, 13 Watercolors at Rose Burlingham Gallery in New York (2009).

Geary has been a resident at the Millay Colony and Art Omi.  She is the recipient of the Elizabeth Foundation Grant in Painting and the Pollock-Krasner Award. Her work has been exhibited in Bay Area Now 3 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Mills College, San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art, and Bau Institute Otranto, Italy.  Her work has been reviewed in Art in America, ArtForum, ArtPractical, ArtWeek, KQED, Huffington Post, Portland Mercury News, Sacramento Bee, the San Jose Mercury News, SF Chronicle, and Squarecylinder.
