Thomas Wojak is a master printer and exhibiting artist. He founded his screen printing studio, The W.O.R.K.S, in 1972 in San Francisco, and continues today in the historic downtown district of Vallejo, CA. The studio specializes in limited edition work for local, national, and international artists and works extensively with the Bay Area design, exhibition and technology communities. He brings these many years of working closely with other artists and designers to bear in his classroom and studio teaching endeavors.
He began teaching at CCA in 1993 and has taught in the print program and the fine art graduate department continually since that time. He also serves as the Print Program Expert and works closely with the advising department and reviews undergraduate and graduate applications to the college.
Thomas’s prints have been honored by the San Francisco Art Directors Guild and the New York Art Directors Association. His exhibition record is extensive and he has curated and juried numerous shows within the fine arts community. He relocated his live/work studio to historic downtown Vallejo, CA in 2002 and in 2004 he was awarded certificates of recognition from the California state assembly and the senate acknowledging his work in helping revitalize that area. The mayor and city council appointed him to the Percent for Art Advisory Group to help craft guidelines for establishing a public art program for the city.
Thomas’s own print and mixed media pieces deal with, as he says,creating a present from the fragments of the past. His work is in numerous private collections and has been exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. He has also taught at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley,CA; Penland School of Crafts in NC; and the Mendocino Art Center, CA.
