Zidane, a 21st Century Portrait is a study of Zinedine Zidane, one of the greatest players in the history of soccer. In this film, the viewers are plunged into all facets of the universe, the psychology and the body of an athlete in action – an incomparable and breathtaking experience. Zidane, a 21st Century Portrait returns in anticipation of Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s /peh-LO- tah/, a performance with choreography inspired by soccer techniques.
This film was shot using state of the art technology in real time with 17 synchronized cameras in Santiago Bernabeu stadium in Madrid on April 23, 2005 during the Spanish Liga championship game between Real Madrid and VillaReal. Scottish post-rock band Mogwai provided the overwhelming soundtrack. (2006, 91 min, digital)
